The Heart Does Grieve

“What the eyes don’t see, the heart does grieve over.” – Paulo Coelho

I’ve just finished Paulo Coelho’s Eleven Minutes. I’m sitting here, literarily, in tears. I cannot recall a book ever moving me to tears. Perhaps, because, I am feeling the same way as Coelho’s character, Maria. She is torn between love and making the right decision. She desperately wants her fairy tale ending. Maria talks about “him” begging her to stay, racing to the airport to stop her from leaving…. All of those scenes we’ve seen played out time and again in the movies, but seldom in real life. Spoiler alert: Maria did get her happily ever after! After all the pain and suffering. Love endured!
