I am a news producer for a network affiliate in the desert southwest. I am a certified “news junkie!” I enjoy what I do (and who I do it with). My friends outside of the biz think my life is glamorous and refer to me as a “celebrity.” I say, not yet! But with a little luck and a lot of hard work, hopefully I’m on my way to enjoying some kind of success in this crazy industry.
I decided to start Ela Intoxicated after a night of wine-induced texting with my favorite person in the world, Geoff, who suggested “it would be a hit.”
I grew up in a very, VERY small Southern town. I married my high school sweetheart. We were married young and divorced young. I married my high school sweetheart and we moved from that very small town to the west coast. I was a Navy Wife. When that gig was up my high school sweetheart wanted to leave all the glory of the west coast and return to no mans land! Our love did not survive. A couple of years later I married again. The spawn of Satan. No, really! Even as I headed down the aisle to say “I do” I was thinking, “I don’t” and praying someone would stop the wedding. No one did. Twelve miserable years later, it ended.
It’s everything that happened between wedding #1 and the demise of marriage #2, that defines me. And other than my precious children, the accomplishment I’m most proud of, is graduating from college. The hell I endured to get that diploma in my hand would amaze you. When it was all over I attended not one, not two, but three graduation ceremonies! Because I had earned every single one of them!
Because of that, I’m livin’ the dream! Producing the news. Everyday I’m reminded that anything is possible. You wake up in the morning with a blank canvas waiting to be filled. I give all I can give. I hold nothing back.
It is never too late to become the person you were meant to be.
